Saturday Science is a website offering FREE resources for physics in schools and Science Clubs. It seeks to challenge students to build and experiment with projects that stretch their abilities and knowledge. It is based on many indexed pages with tips and tricks on analysis, brainstroming and getting a “feel for stuff”. Pages include projects based on the BBC Microbit computer/sensor, projects with vacuum cleaners (like the famous vacuum bazooka), 3-minute Wonders, and the ‘Half-Bakery’ section, which contains projects that need a little more work.
Saturdayscience.org is run by Professor Neil A Downie, a physicist and engineer, author of four Saturday Science books with Princeton University Press. He has worked with the British Physics Olympiad on workshops for school students in the UK and China. Innovation and student participation in the activities are key themes.
